AceShowbiz - During a performance with Hootie & the Blowfish at Riverfront Revival in Charleston, South Carolina, on October 12, 58-year-old Darius Rucker had a minor mishap that he took in stride. As he sang the opening lyrics of his 2009 solo hit "Alright," Rucker tripped, fell, and rolled onto his back.
A fan captured the moment on video, showing Rucker quipping to the audience, "I'm old as f***." Despite the fall, Rucker continued singing professionally. The band later stated on Instagram that their performance at Riverfront Revival went without a hitch.
Rucker founded Riverfront Revival in 2022 to honor his hometown, and he curates its lineup. This year's festival featured artists such as Tedeschi Trucks Band, The Revivalists, and Jamey Johnson.
Rucker admitted that he had "busted his ass in [his] hometown" after performing without a fall all summer. Despite the tumble, his performance was a highlight of the festival, which took place after Hootie & the Blowfish's 43-city tour that concluded in September 2024.
In addition to the onstage incident, Rucker recently received probation for a drug possession charge stemming from a traffic stop in February 2023. The musician admitted that the incident was "a bummer" but stated that he was working through it with his lawyers and would move on with his life.
