AceShowbiz - Andrew Garfield, known for his iconic role in "The Amazing Spider-Man, and Dr. Kate Tomas, a self-proclaimed "professional witch" and philosopher, have officially split. The separation was confirmed by Dr. Kate herself over the weekend.
An Instagram user inquired about their relationship status on October 11, asking, "Are you still dating Andrew Garfield? If so, tell him I'm a fan of him, please." Dr. Kate responded candidly, "We broke up months ago but I'm sure he will be happy to know that he is loved."
Dr. Kate, whose official website describes her as a "world expert in Mysticism and Catholic women mystics," faced considerable public scrutiny during her relationship with Andrew. When another Instagram user asked, "Will you ever stop talking about Andrew?" Dr. Kate replied sharply, "Sweetheart, the only people who ever talk about or centre a man in my life, work, business, and social media are women like you."
The pair were last seen in public together in July, attending the 2024 Wimbledon Tennis Championships in England. They made their relationship public in late March and were seen holding hands by April in London. Shortly thereafter, they were spotted on a double date with Phoebe Bridgers and Bo Burnham in Malibu, California, and even went grocery shopping together in Los Angeles.
Throughout their short-lived romance, Dr. Kate faced increased scrutiny and negative attention. In July, she expressed frustration over how society's interest often dwells more on a woman's relationship status rather than her individual accomplishments.
"It's frustrating that no matter how accomplished or impactful a woman is, it's always going to be more interesting if they are in a relationship with a man," she told the Sunday Times. "I don't want to sit under anybody's shadow."
Dr. Kate also criticized the media's portrayal of women. "They will take maybe 150 pictures, then they choose the four where you look worst," she commented, highlighting the sexist nature of media coverage on women's appearances and careers.
Despite the criticism, Dr. Kate remained steadfast in her beliefs, discussing on her podcast how she relied on her spiritual practices to cope with the negativity. "That might be screaming into a pillow, or doing a cord-cutting spell, or putting a dome of energy, like a bell jar, over somebody that's actively harmful," she explained. "The most powerful form of psychic protection is knowing who you are and being OK with that."
As of now, Andrew Garfield has not publicly addressed the split or commented on the relationship. Fans and followers of both remain curious about where their paths will take them next.
