AceShowbiz - Having been embroiled in a very public feud with Kendrick Lamar, Drake is also known for his loyalty to his friends. The 6 God has hinted at using his money to help Young Thug, who has been fighting his RICO charge.
On Thursday, October 10, the Canadian superstar shared a cryptic message along with a new selfie on his Instagram Story. He did his infamous duck face in the photo, but the caption had a far more serious tone.
"I ain't talking to talk man," the caption read. "I really put [bread] on the [bag] 3 Jeff." Drake did not mention Thug by his stage name, but the emojis made his message clear. He also likely referred to Thugger by his real name Jeffery Lamar Williams.
Drizzy didn't reveal how much he's spending on Thug, but this wouldn't be the first time he helped a fellow rapper fight against a criminal charge. Top5, another Toronto artist, was recently released from prison, and he thanked Drake for the help. "Shoutout big bro @champagnepapi for the Lawyer Fees & Gary Grill for being the best lawyer in Toronto," Top5 wrote on Instagram.
Drake has repeatedly voiced his support for Thug and has been keeping up with the case. Back in January, he was disappointed to learn that the phone call between Thugger and his girlfriend Mariah the Scientist was leaked.
He got on an DJ Akademiks live stream to voice his frustration. "S**t is disgraceful," he wrote in the comments section. "Gotta be some form of jail misconduct... You gonna drag this talented man then not be able to control your employees using his personal business for their own gain?"
He also talked about Thug's situation on his song "It's Up". He admitted that he's worried for the safety and well-being of the YSL Records founder. "I can't sleep at night with Thug at Cobb County Corrections," he rapped. "I think he did enough reflecting, I think my brother learned his lesson."
