AceShowbiz - Trina Braxton has been open about her struggles with grief since the passing of her sister Traci Braxton. Her mother, Dr. Evelyn Braxton, expressed concern about her daughter's emotional well-being. After seeking counseling, Trina revealed that her coping mechanisms have improved significantly.
"Counseling changed everything," Trina explained. "I no longer eat and drink my feelings. I can sleep at night now." She emphasizes the importance of self-care and her desire to be present for her family and accomplish her goals.
In an interview with PEOPLE, Trina described her ongoing grieving process as a journey. "Each day is its own adventure. Some days are good, others not so much," she said. "Sometimes I'm filled with happy tears, while other times I miss Traci so deeply."
Grief counseling has empowered Trina to compartmentalize her emotions. "I've realized it's okay to not be okay. I can cry and move forward without moving on," she shared. Trina has made progress in her coping strategies, particularly with sleep and managing her emotional eating.
Showing the family's grieving process on the reality show "The Braxtons" was challenging but necessary for Trina. "We wanted to help others find resolution within their own families," she explained. Trina's sister Towanda Braxton added that the show allowed them to come together and acknowledge their emotions openly.
Despite the challenges, Trina Braxton is determined to live her life to the fullest in honor of Traci's memory. "I want to do so much more. I want to be around for my loved ones. And I don't want to lose another child," she concluded.
