Normani revealed that fashion played a crucial role in her expression during her time in Fifth Harmony. "I felt I could really depend and rely on my fashion to speak for me, which was really an outlet," she said.

Reflecting on her experiences, Normani described the transition from a group to a solo career as a swift and intense process. "I was just really grateful to have the opportunity to do things my way because I felt like for so long, I felt hidden," she explained.

Within Fifth Harmony, Normani felt the pressure to constantly prove her worth due to being the only Black member. "I was the only Black girl, and my experience was my own," she said. "I often felt that I had to 'do the most in order to be seen.'"

Normani's highly anticipated solo debut, "Dopamine", was released in June 2022. The album received positive feedback from fans and critics alike. Her former bandmate, Camila Cabello, congratulated her on social media, acknowledging the vulnerability and challenges that come with releasing a project.

Rumors of a Fifth Harmony reunion have been circulating, but Normani expressed that she is currently focused on her own journey. "I definitely see that being a possibility in the future," she said. "That would be a special moment for sure."

In a separate interview with Entertainment Tonight, Normani spoke about her re-introduction as a solo artist. "For someone that’s always felt very overlooked and being the only black girl in a group, mentally was a lot for me," she admitted. She explained that her new song "Fair" is a vulnerable expression of her experiences and emotions.

Normani expressed her gratitude for the support of her fans and the strength she has gained through leaving Fifth Harmony. "I’m just so grateful for it," she said. "It speaks to my resilience and the people that have been riding with me since day one."
