On September 28, the new parents announced the birth of their baby boy, Ronin Walker Cobain Hawk, via Instagram. In a series of black-and-white photos, Frances shared adorable glimpses of their newborn son, holding hands with her and being cradled by Riley.
"Welcome to the world most beautiful son. We love you more than anything," the new mom wrote in the caption.
The couple's famous friends and family expressed their well-wishes in the comments section. First-time grandfather Tony Hawk, Riley's father, joked, "My favorite grandson!" while Zelda Williams, daughter of the late Robin Williams, wrote, "Ahhh! Congrats!!!!" Harper Grohl, daughter of Kurt's former Nirvana bandmate Dave Grohl, left heart and teary-eyed emojis.
Frances and Riley's announcement came as a surprise, as they had not publicly shared any news of a pregnancy. The couple tied the knot in October 2023 in an intimate Victorian-inspired ceremony officiated by R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe, Frances' godfather.
Frances has previously expressed her hope that her late father would be proud of her, both as a human being and an artist. The inclusion of his surname in Ronin's moniker serves as a touching tribute to Kurt Cobain's legacy.
