AceShowbiz - Two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank has signed on for a recurring guest star role in the third season of the hit Paramount+ series "Yellowjackets." Her character's details remain a mystery, but she is expected to appear later in the season.

The critically acclaimed series follows the story of a high school girls soccer team who become survivors of a plane crash in the wilderness and chronicles the consequences of their ordeal both in the aftermath and 25 years later. The show has received numerous Primetime Emmy Award nominations and a Peabody nomination.

Swank's casting comes after Joel McHale was announced to guest star in Season 3. The show features notable cast members, including Melanie Lynskey, Tawny Cypress, Christina Ricci, Lauren Ambrose, and Simone Kessell, who play the adult survivors. Their younger counterparts are portrayed by Sophie Nélisse, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sophie Thatcher, Samantha Hanratty, Liv Hewson, and Courtney Eaton.

Swank's previous work includes Academy Award-winning performances in "Boys Don't Cry" and "Million Dollar Baby," as well as roles in films like "Freedom Writers," "Logan Lucky," and "The Hunt." She recently starred in the ABC drama series "Alaska Daily" and the Netflix sci-fi drama "Away."

"Yellowjackets" is created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, who serve as showrunners alongside Jonathan Lisco. Season 2 of the series concluded with major developments, setting the stage for an intriguing third season. The filming is currently underway in Vancouver, with a premiere date yet to be announced.
