AceShowbiz - Elton John has shared an update after he stopped hitting the road. After revealing that he quit touring, the "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me" hitmaker hinted that he may do live performances again.
On Tuesday, September 24, the 77-year-old British singer/songwriter officially launched his book titled "Farewell Yellow Brick Road: Memories of My Life on Tour". In the newly-released book, he teases about entertaining his fans during live performances, per The U.S. Sun.
In it, Elton writes, "I've been clear with my fans that while the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour is the culmination of my touring career, I still plan to perform live." He adds, "What this will entail I don't know yet."
In the book, the "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" artist shares with his fans some of the biggest moments in his music career. He mentions Pete Doherty, with whom he performed at Live Aid in 1985. Elton says that Pete was "stoned out of his mind."
Elton recalls, "I hated the entire show except for Queen." Fortunately, he "had a ball" backstage, writing, "Backstage, however, I had a ball. I decorated my own little area and set up a barbecue. I made sure there were seats for everyone so that other people who were playing could come and sit down and chat."
"Freddie told me, 'We killed them. You, on the other hand dear, you looked like the f**king Queen Mother. Where did you get that absolutely awful hat?' " Elton pens. He continues, "Freddie was right about the hat."
Elsewhere in the book, Elton expresses his fury at Brexit, claiming that it affected rising music stars in his country England. He explains, "Not all musicians had my privilege and my stature." He further elaborates, "A lot of younger artists couldn't afford the extra fees and paperwork now needed to tour in Europe. One of Britain's greatest and most successful exports has been its music."
