The allegations surfaced just more than 24 hours before the Kennedy clan gathered for a pre-wedding dip in Hyannis Harbor. While the 70-year-old former presidential candidate was absent, his family members, including 30-year-old bride-to-be Grace, were spotted enjoying the moment despite the rain.
Grace, who is the granddaughter of Ted Kennedy, was seen jumping into the harbor alongside her cousins and other unidentified family members. They shared laughter and splashes, momentarily escaping the shadow of RFK Jr.'s latest controversy. The group played and huddled on the boardwalk, trying to dry off with towels after their spirited swim.
The allegations connecting RFK Jr. to Nuzzi, a New York magazine political correspondent, stemmed from Nuzzi's admission in a statement released Thursday. Without naming RFK Jr. directly, Nuzzi, 31, confessed, "The nature of some communications between myself and a former reporting subject turned personal." Though she insisted their relationship was never physical, the situation cast a shadow over RFK Jr.'s current marriage to actress Cheryl Hines.
According to the report, RFK Jr. and Nuzzi allegedly exchanged personal messages while she was engaged to fellow journalist Ryan Lizza, to whom she is now no longer betrothed. Sources revealed that the alleged relationship with Nuzzi began in December 2023 after she wrote a profile on RFK Jr.
A representative for RFK Jr. denied any deeper connection between him and Nuzzi. A spokesperson asserted, "Mr. Kennedy only met Olivia Nuzzi once in his life for an interview she requested, which yielded a hit piece."
Meanwhile, Cheryl Hines, known for her work on "Curb Your Enthusiasm," has yet to address the scandal publicly.
As the Kennedy family anticipates Grace and her fiancé Sam Jackson's wedding, it remains unclear whether RFK Jr. will be present at the ceremony.
