AceShowbiz - Attorneys for Sean "P. Diddy" Combs are scrambling to secure the renowned hip-hop icon's release from federal custody by proposing a substantial bail package, as revealed by Rolling Stone. Combs, renowned for his influential role in the music industry and his pioneering Bad Boy Entertainment label, finds himself faces charges that include sex trafficking and racketeering.
To avoid prolonged detention, Combs' legal team has presented a remarkable $50 million bond, alongside other stringent conditions aimed at demonstrating his commitment to cooperating with authorities.
These conditions include forfeiting the passports of his family members - his daughters, Chance, Jessie, D'Lila, and Love, as well as his mother, Janice. Further underwriting this bail package is the equity of Janice's Florida condo, along with a home detention provision coupled with GPS monitoring.
Combs was apprehended following raids on his residences toward the end of March. His attorney, Marc Agnifilo, has been steadfast in arguing that Combs poses no flight risk, emphasizing his willingness to cooperate from the outset.
"Sean Combs has never evaded, avoided, eluded, or run from a challenge in his life. He will not start now," Agnifilo wrote in a heartfelt letter to the court. He reaffirmed Combs' determination to vigorously defend himself against the charges.
Prior to his arrest, Combs had already surrendered his passport and those of his daughters and mother. Additionally, his three adult sons - Quincy, Justin, and Christian - have agreed to co-sign the bail arrangement, further emphasizing the family's unity and support.
Financially, Combs has significantly reduced his liabilities, including paying off the remaining $18 million mortgage on his Miami estate and initiating the sale of his private jet. "Just this weekend, Mr. Combs entered into a Letter of Intent with a party to sell it," court documents state.
Combs' recent conduct further exemplifies his cooperative stance, with his business entities providing extensive documentation in response to prosecutorial subpoenas. Despite these efforts, federal prosecutors remain cautious.
Damian Williams from the Department of Justice highlighted the gravity of the charges and the ongoing nature of the investigation, stating, "We are committed to bringing justice to everyone victimized by the defendant."
