AceShowbiz - Reese Witherspoon, the 48-year-old Oscar winner, exuded Hollywood glamor on the red carpet at the 76th Primetime Emmys. Nominated for Lead Actress in a Drama for her role on "The Morning Show", she dazzled in a strapless black Dior gown adorned with delicate floral accents. Her timeless elegance was complemented by an elegant updo and a chic gold clutch.
As she graced the red carpet at Los Angeles' Peacock Theater on Sunday, Witherspoon was asked about the latest developments on the Legally Blonde series. In response, she revealed, "We have a 'Legally Blonde' TV show that starts filming in March, and it's the young Elle Woods so... we're about to start the process where we're trying to find the young Elle Woods." She added jokingly, "She's got to kind of look like me."
When asked about a potential third film, Witherspoon quickly replied, "No update."
The original "Legally Blonde" film, released in 2001, starred Witherspoon as Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrolls in Harvard Law School to win back her ex-boyfriend. The film was both critically and commercially successful, spawning a musical adaptation and a sequel titled Legally Blonde 2: Red, White & Blonde.
In addition to the "Legally Blonde" developments, Witherspoon also revealed that she is working on a secret project with her media company, Hello Sunshine, and a Real Housewife. "I did sit next to a Real Housewife on a flight recently," she told Heather McMahan on "Live From E!: Emmys." "Well we might have a Hello Sunshine project cooking now but I can't say. It was cool, it was really cool."
Fans speculated on social media about the identity of the mystery Real Housewife, with many suggesting Kyle Richards, Kandi Burruss or Garcelle Beauvais, all of whom have experience in acting and production.
Besides the "Legally Blonde" updates and the secret project, Witherspoon has also been working on Season 3 of "Big Little Lies" and season 4 of "The Morning Show". She attended the 76th Emmy Awards with a nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role on "The Morning Show" alongside Jennifer Aniston. The series is also nominated for Outstanding Drama Series.
