Diagnosed with bilateral breast cancer in April 2023, the 44-year-old actress shared a heartfelt message, "I've gotten lots of DMs and questions about my breast cancer timeline so I thought that I should clearly lay it out for you guys."

She said, "I hope that by doing so it helps others who have gone through it or are going through it right now. Maybe feel a little comforted in knowing that I've gone down the same path and I'm doing okay."

From January 2022, Munn underwent several screenings, including mammograms and ultrasounds, which initially showed clear results. However, after receiving a genetic test in February 2023 that indicated a 0% chance of genetic cancer, her Tyrer-Cuzik breast cancer assessment score in March 2023 revealed a 37.3% risk.

Following further imaging tests and biopsies, Munn received her bilateral breast cancer diagnosis in April 2023. This led to significant medical procedures, including a double mastectomy, nipple delay, and lymph node dissection.

Throughout her medical journey, she underwent various treatments and surgeries. These included egg retrieval in June 2023, breast reconstruction in September 2023, lupron treatment in November 2023, and a partial hysterectomy/oophorectomy in April 2024. Similarly, her arimidex treatment commenced in August 2024, an essential part of treating hormone receptor-positive breast cancer.

Olivia Munn's openness about her experience extends beyond just her medical timeline. In a candid moment on the SheMD podcast, she revealed, "I cried a week after, because that was the first time I saw my breasts. I was by myself in my bathroom, and I looked at them, and I cried in a way that I don't think I've ever cried in my life. I cried. I was devastated. I just I didn't recognize myself."

Munn's journey has had its challenges, but it has also brought her closer to her family. The Newsroom star expressed her gratitude towards her husband, John Mulaney, for his unwavering support.

Munn, who shares a son, Malcolm, with Mulaney, said, "I'm so thankful for the nights [John] spent researching what every operation and medication meant and what side effects and recovery I could expect. Thank you for fighting so hard to be here for us. Malc and I adore you."
