AceShowbiz - Prime Video is reportedly fast-tracking a "Reacher" spin-off that will delve into the world of Frances Neagley, a fellow member of Jack Reacher's former Army unit, the 110th MP Special Investigations Unit. Maria Sten, who portrays Neagley in both "Reacher" seasons, will reprise her role in the spin-off.
Neagley, known for her last name-only moniker and Master Sergeant rank, left the Army and now works for a private security company. The character faces challenges with haptephobia, a fear of being touched, which was showcased in a poignant scene in "Reacher" season 2.
"Reacher" has proven successful for Prime Video, earning a Season 2 renewal after just three days and amassing 1.7 billion minutes viewed in its first three season 2 episodes. The move to develop a spinoff is unsurprising given the series' popularity.
Nicholas Wootton, who collaborated with "Reacher" showrunner Nick Santora on "Prison Break", is said to be assisting in the development of the Neagley spinoff and would serve as co-showrunner if the project goes to series.
The spin-off's plot details are undisclosed, but sources indicate a focus on Neagley's character. Amazon has declined to comment on the reports.
The third season of "Reacher" is currently in production, based on Lee Child's "Persuader" novel. Sten will return alongside a new cast that includes Anthony Michael Hall, Sonya Cassidy and Johnny Berchtold. Child serves as an executive producer alongside a team from Skydance Television, Amazon Studios, and CBS Studios.
The "Reacher" universe continues to expand, offering fans more adventures from the thrilling world of Jack Reacher and his associates.
