AceShowbiz - Carmen Electra, the 52-year-old actress, has disclosed that during her time on the popular TV series "Baywatch" in the late 1990s, she faced pressure to lose weight. Electra, who played Lani McKenzie, revealed that producers would approach her, stating that she was "too heavy."
"I never had a weigh-in, but I was told sometimes I was too heavy!" Electra told Extra during an interview for the documentary "After Baywatch: Moment in the Sun". "And I look back now and I don't think I was. They would come up to you and say, 'You need to lose some pounds' or 'You need to lose some weight.' "
Electra shared that she believes she did not need to diet but did not elaborate further on the conversations or her body image at the time. Despite the pressure, she has kept her iconic red swimsuit from the show, saying, "Of course! I have it framed!"
In a separate interview with US TV show Extra, Electra recalled a memorable kissing scene with David Chokachi, stating that she felt "very green" as it was one of her first on-screen kisses. "We had a kissing scene and I just went in...tongue heavy!" she said. "I think he liked it! I just didn't know! And when I watched back, I would be like, 'Oh, my God!' "
