AceShowbiz - Details of the incident that led to Amy Slaton's arrest have emerged. On Labor Day, September 2, the 36-year-old "1000-Lb Sisters" star was transported on a stretcher from Tennessee Safari Park in Alamo after allegedly being bitten by a camel.
Photos obtained by TMZ show her in obvious distress, with a makeshift bandage wrapped around her arm.
Witnesses reported seeing Slaton walking through the parking lot with a shirt as a tourniquet before EMS workers placed her on the stretcher. Police confirmed that a zoo employee had called 911 to report the camel bite, and Slaton was taken to the ER for treatment.
However, the park's management, including owner Jon Conley, disputed Slaton's claims, stating that no one had ever been bitten by a camel in the park's history and that Slaton's wound was not consistent with a camel bite. Conley also questioned her ability to recall the location of the alleged bite and said there's no surveillance video to back up her allegation.
Following her hospital release, Slaton was taken into custody by the Crockett County Sheriff's Department. Police revealed that they had found psychedelic mushrooms and marijuana in her vehicle, which was present in plain sight. Slaton was charged with illegal possession of Schedule I and Schedule VI drugs, as well as two counts of child endangerment because two children were present in the car at the time.
A man named Brian Scott Lovvorn was also arrested on the same charges. Slaton and Lovvorn remain in custody and are awaiting a bond hearing.
The Department of Children and Family Services is involved in the case, and a plan is being developed to ensure the children's safety. Slaton's ex-husband, Michael Halterman, with whom she shares two sons, has stated that the children were released into a family member's custody.
Slaton's arrest follows a series of personal struggles, including a divorce from Halterman in March 2023. The couple had filed for divorce after Slaton made allegations of infidelity, and she had since moved on with another man. However, that relationship reportedly ended in February.
