AceShowbiz - Anya Taylor-Joy has cemented herself as one of Hollywood's most versatile and dedicated actresses. Recently, the "Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga" star has set her sights on a dream project that would not only showcase her wide-ranging talents but also delight her family: playing Elsa in a live-action "Frozen".
In an interview with Vogue Hong Kong, Taylor-Joy expressed her desire to take on the iconic role of Elsa, the snow queen from Disney's "Frozen". Her passion for challenging roles and hard work makes this project particularly appealing to her.
"I really want to do a musical because I'm a little too obsessed with my current job," she said. "I love the challenge of completing impossible tasks. I think that's incredibly motivating for me, so the idea of being able to sing, dance, and act at the same time is really exciting to me."
Taylor-Joy's enthusiasm for the role goes beyond professional aspirations. She shared that playing Elsa would earn her major points with her nieces and nephews. "Shooting ice cubes out of your hands can be a lot of fun. And, you'll be the favorite at every kid's birthday party. All my siblings have kids now, so I would love for them to be able to say, 'My aunt is Elsa.' That would be great!" she conveyed with a touch of familial pride.
Disney has not confirmed any plans for a live-action Frozen, but the speculation persists among fans. The animated series is currently expanding with Disney working on "Frozen III", slated for release in 2027, and even considering a fourth installment.
Fans have often pointed out the physical resemblance Taylor-Joy shares with Elsa, which has led to some interesting interactions. "I had a meeting with a director who had a young daughter who was three and she loved Frozen and he asked me if she could come over and I could pretend," Taylor-Joy recounted. "And I did the whole thing. And watching this little girl's face...she was so excited…she thought I was gonna freeze the place."
Interestingly, Taylor-Joy's career could have taken a different turn early on. She once turned down an offer to star in a Disney Channel pilot, choosing instead to take on a role in Robert Eggers' puritan horror film, "The Witch". This decision led to her breakthrough role and subsequent opportunities in critically acclaimed films such as M. Night Shyamalan's "Split" and "Glass".
As young people around the world continue to admire Taylor-Joy's trajectory, her potential involvement in a live-action "Frozen" only adds to the excitement. Regardless of Disney's plans, Taylor-Joy's passion and dedication make it clear that she is always ready for the next big challenge. And perhaps one day, she may indeed get to see her nieces and nephews proudly declare, "My aunt is Elsa."
