AceShowbiz - Bonnie Wright, who played Ginny Weasley in the "Harry Potter" film series, recently shared her hopes for the upcoming HBO adaptation of the books. In an interview with Variety, Wright revealed that she would like to see "more of the development of the relationship between Ginny and Harry" in the series.
As fans know, Ginny and Harry become friends and eventually fall in love over the course of the Harry Potter story. However, the relationship is developed more extensively in the books than it is in the films. Wright believes that the new series has the opportunity to delve into this arc more fully.
"There's nuanced moments of where they begin to fall in love," said Wright. "I think more of that arc of her character becoming this real loyal sidekick to Harry and how she really understands and knows his story and who he is, and is the best partner for him."
Wright also confirmed that she will not appear on the HBO series but will instead be a viewer along with other "Harry Potter" fans. The series, which was first announced in April 2023, is described as a "faithful adaptation" of J.K. Rowling's books and will feature a new cast. Francesca Gardiner will write and showrun the series, while Mark Mylod will direct several episodes. It is expected to premiere in 2026.
