While discussing animal communication advancements, Ripa recalled her encounter with dolphins during a friend's 50th birthday celebration in Mexico.

As they sailed on a boat, they were suddenly surrounded by wild dolphins. Ripa, who had recently filmed a segment on dolphin communication in Miami, became convinced she could speak to them.

"I thought I could talk to them because I'd spoken so fluently to them in Miami," she said. "So, I jump into the water and go, 'I know how to talk to the dolphins!' I'm like, 'I'm going to call them over!' "

Despite being urged by friends to get back in the boat because the dolphins weren't trained, Ripa remained determined. In her mind, she had formed an unbreakable bond with the marine mammals.

"Our friend Brian was on the bow of the boat, saying, 'Kel, get back in the boat. Those are wild dolphins, not trained ones,'" Ripa said. "But I thought I could talk to them because I'd spoken so fluently."

Ripa's overconfidence led to a comical moment, as she remained in the water while the dolphins swam away. Her friends laughed, but Ripa remained unfazed, convinced she had simply not mastered the communication art yet.

Ripa and Consuelos have a close relationship both on and off the show. They have been married for 28 years and have shared numerous anecdotes about their personal lives, including their wildlife encounters. In May, Consuelos shared a story about a bird attack on their family at a beach.
