Known for her compelling performances in a multitude of genres, Kidman revealed in a recent interview with L'Officiel magazine that she harbors a deep fascination for hardcore horror films.
"I've not done classic horror yet," Kidman said. "Hardcore horror. I'm putting it out there, because I watch hardcore horror. I'm a fan of Ti West!"
While Kidman has dabbled in the psychological horror space with memorable roles in films like "The Others," "Stoker," and "Killing of a Sacred Deer," she has yet to dive into the more intense and visceral side of the genre. Her admiration for directors like Ti West, known for his films "X," "Pearl," and "Maxxxine," and the recent Australian horror hit "Talk to Me" from Danny and Michael Philippou, makes it clear she is ready to embrace the horror genre fully.
Kidman's career has been nothing short of extraordinary. From superheroes to enchanting nannies, she's balanced roles in major franchises such as "Batman" and "Aquaman" with critically acclaimed performances in dramatic films like "The Hours" and "Lion". She recently starred in the Netflix rom-com "A Family Affair" alongside Zac Efron and Joey King and is set to return in the much-anticipated sequel to "Practical Magic", where she'll reunite with Sandra Bullock.
Fans of the actress might also recognize her from AMC's pre-movie sizzle reels. Kidman renewed her contract with AMC in August 2022, becoming the face of their campaign for another year. "As Nicole Kidman reminds us in AMC's now iconic and revered advertising campaign, 'Given that Hollywood has great stories to tell. It's clear that movie fans are ever so eager to enjoy those dazzling images on AMC's huge silver screens,'" said AMC CEO Adam Aron.
Kidman's future projects promise exciting ventures across a range of genres. Besides her potential horror foray, she will next appear alongside Harris Dickinson in A24's "Babygirl", set to hit theaters on December 25.
Whether in spells, scares, or romance, Nicole Kidman continues to captivate audiences with her diverse talent. As she continues to broaden her horizons, one can only anticipate what spine-chilling delight her immersion into hardcore horror will bring.
