AceShowbiz - Drake and Kanye West are undeniably two of the biggest names in rap history. Over the years, their relationship has been a perplexing blend of mutual admiration, competition, and outright animosity. They have openly acknowledged the significant impact they've had on each other's careers, yet they can't seem to decide whether they are friends or foes.
Until recently, the idea of them mending their relationship seemed far-fetched. However, in a surprising turn of events, Drake quietly began following Kanye West on Instagram without any fanfare. This simple action set the rumor mill spinning, with fans speculating about a possible reconciliation.
The Instagram follow wasn't the only clue that something was afoot. Kanye West delivered an astonishing seventy-plus song set in South Korea last week, running through his classic hits. Before performing "I Wonder", he dedicated the song to Drake, telling an understandably baffled audience, "This one for Drake."
Drake did not publicly respond to this unexpected shout-out, but two days later, he included Kanye West in his ongoing "100 Gigs" project. The 6 God showcased unseen footage of himself discussing Kanye after they performed at the 2013 OVO Fest. In the video, Drake praised Kanye to his team, saying, "Yo, that was crazy! That's real rap s**t. We don't communicate with each other enough and sometimes when we get on that stage, it's an outpouring of emotion."
Drake went on to admit his dual feelings of rivalry and admiration for Kanye, stating, "I'm the biggest Ye fan. Period. Sometimes I feel like I can't like it because I gotta go against it. But that s**t tonight was almost therapeutic."
These gestures of goodwill are a stark contrast to the antagonistic tone between the two rappers just a few months ago. As recently as April, Kanye was aggressively anti-Drake, even dropping a remix to "Like That" in which he criticized Drake and his business dealings. During an interview, Kanye expressed excitement for the "elimination of Drake."
