AceShowbiz - Rumors suggesting that Beyonce Knowles will perform at the 2024 Democratic National Convention have been debunked. It has been reported that the "Texas Hold 'Em" hitmaker is not going to attend the last night of the DNC.
On Thursday, August 22, the 42-year-old superstar's representative confirmed that the claims about her surprise performance at the event are not true. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, the rep said, "Beyonce was never scheduled to be there." They went on to stress, "The report of a performance is untrue."
Similarly, the Washington Post revealed that "DNC organizers have denied any rumors of a special guest." The media outlet noted, "A person who has spoken with convention organizers, including Ricky Kirchner, Stephanie Cutter, Minyon Moore, and Jen O'Malley Dillon, said there is no such special guest planned."
The clarification came shortly after it was reported that Queen Bey "is in Chicago and is gearing up for a surprise performance before Vice President Kamala Harris officially accepts the Democratic Party's presidential nomination." According to TMZ, "Chicago PD is on high alert as it's involved in security for Beyonce at the United Center arena," where the event takes place.
Aside from Bey, it was reported that fellow singer Taylor Swift will make a surprise appearance at the DNC. The "Cowboy Carter" artist and the "All Too Well" hitmaker could be "potential speakers who would introduce Kamala Harris." However, later on, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper was officially announced as the speaker.
Despite not being a surprise performer at the DNC, Beyonce apparently has continued showing her support of Kamala. During the event, the Vice President walked on the stage while the singer's song titled "Freedom", which features Kendrick Lamar, was being played in the background.
This was not the first time Kamala walked onstage to Beyonce's "Freedom". On Monday, July 22, Kamala made a grand entrance at a campaign staff meeting in Wilmington, Delaware to the same song, which has been an anthem of empowerment since its release in Beyonce's 2016 album "Lemonade".
