Meanwhile, Holmes spent the weekend helping Suri move into her dorm. The 18-year-old will begin classes next Monday according to the university's website. Suri will be sharing a dorm room with another female student, which is a departure from her luxurious upbringing in New York City.

Despite the simplicity of her new accommodations, Suri will have access to a variety of amenities at Carnegie Mellon University, including a wellness center, dining halls and Grubhub delivery.

For Katie Holmes, Suri's college journey marks a bittersweet moment. She told Town & Country magazine, "Of course, I will miss the close proximity, but I'm really proud of her and I'm happy."
