AceShowbiz - Kimberly Williams-Paisley has revealed that she recently underwent surgery to address vocal issues she had been experiencing for almost two years. The actress, who is married to country music star Brad Paisley, took to Instagram on Saturday, August 17, to share her health update.
In a carousel of photos, Williams-Paisley shared a selfie taken in a hospital bed, showing a large scar on her neck. She also included a warning image before the scar photo and a drawing that her brother had made over the scar.
"I've been going through a thing," Williams-Paisley wrote in the caption. "Almost two years ago, I lost my voice onstage at my Alzheimer's event in Nashville. It was embarrassing and scary, and it never quite came back."
After trying various treatments to heal her voice, she was finally able to undergo surgery at Vanderbilt Health in Nashville, Tennessee. "I have damage to my laryngeal nerve," she explained, adding that the surgery was performed by "expert surgeons."
Following the surgery, Williams-Paisley reported that her voice was "sounding so much better." She also expressed her gratitude for the medical professionals who had helped her.
Williams-Paisley admitted that she had been hesitant to share her health condition because "it felt too vulnerable." She shared that losing her voice had forced her to seek alternative ways to express herself, leading to personal growth and positive changes in her life.
The actress concluded her post with a quote from author and podcaster Kate Bowler. "If you're going through hell, don't come out empty-handed." Williams-Paisley added, "Was losing my voice worth it? Mm, not exactly. Was it worthless? Not for a second."
