AceShowbiz - On Thursday, August 8, former President Donald Trump agreed to debate Vice President Kamala Harris on ABC on September 10. This follows Harris' earlier announcement that she was "happy to have that conversation" about additional debates.
The debate on ABC will be moderated by David Muir and Linsey Davis. It was originally scheduled for Biden and Trump, but Biden withdrew from the race after his poor performance in the first debate.
Trump and Harris have also agreed to dates for debates on Fox News and NBC News, on September 4 and September 25, respectively.
The September 10 debate date has also been set for the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs). The VMAs will air from UBS Arena in New York at 8 P.M. ET/PT, just four days shy of the 40th anniversary of the inaugural VMAs at Radio City Music Hall.
This is the second time this summer that a political event has collided with an awards show. An attempt on Trump's life occurred on July 13, less than two hours before the Kids' Choice Awards was scheduled to get underway in Santa Monica, Calif. The awards went on as scheduled, with no mention of the event.
Despite the VMAs' planned collision with the debate, it remains to be seen whether Trump will indeed participate in all three debates he has agreed to. He had previously stated that he would not debate on ABC due to a lawsuit against ABC and George Stephanopoulos. However, he later reversed his decision.
The 2024 presidential election is already unparalleled, and the debates between Trump and Harris are sure to be a major focus of the campaign. With Trump's unpredictable nature and Harris's popularity, the debates could have a significant impact on the outcome of the race.
