AceShowbiz - Donald Trump seemingly cannot hate Kanye West. While the controversial rapper has been struggling to rebuild his persona following his multiple scandals, the former president has acknowledged that the musician is a "very complicated" person.
The businessman-turned-politician gave his honest thought on Ye during an appearance on Adin Ross' Kick stream on Monday, August 5, with a select group of Trump fans on hand and donning red MAGA hats. He participated in a quick hits segment where Ross prompted him for reactions to public figures on a screen.
When the screen displayed Ye's picture, Trump said, "He's very complicated." The 78-year-old added, "Let's say complicated because he is. He's a really nice guy, but he can get some people into trouble. And he can get some other people. But, you know, he's got a good heart - he does, he does, but he's complicated, Kanye."
While people were shocked to hear Trump speak about Ye, they couldn't deny that he was being real with his comments about the rapper. "Trump is honestly dead on target with this," one person wrote on X, formerly Twitter. Another chimed in, "Every time Trump speaks about Kanye he gives nothing but love to him."
During his appearance on the show, Trump also discussed Young Thug and the YSL rapper's ongoing RICO trial. Of the matter, he asked District Attorney Fani Willis to treat him fairly.
Ye previously voiced his support for Trump. The "Gold Digger" emcee professed he would've voted for Trump in the 2016 election if he had voted. In 2018, he pulled up to the White House wearing a red Make America Great Again hat.
"It was something about when I put this hat on that made me feel like Superman. You made a Superman - that's my favorite superhero - you made a Superman cape," Ye told reporters at the Oval Office at the time. "I think it's the bravery that helps you beat this game called life. They tried to scare me into not wearing this hat - my own friends. This hat, it gives me power in a certain way."
Their friendship took a different turn after Trump was widely criticized in 2022 for having dinner with Ye and the far-right activist Nick Fuentes despite their controversial comments. Following the rapper's anti-Semitic tirade on social media in the same year, the former president wrote on Truth social that Ye was a "seriously troubled man."
