AceShowbiz - Getting a Hollywood legend like Harrison Ford to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is no small feat. Known for iconic characters such as Han Solo, Indiana Jones and Rick Deckard, Ford now takes on the role of Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross in "Captain America: Brave New World". How did this happen? According to Anthony Mackie, it might be thanks to a past collaboration and a joking request.

At this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Mackie spoke to Entertainment Tonight about Ford's entry into the MCU, hinting that their interaction on the set of "Hollywood Homicide" in 2003 played a role. Mackie humorously recounted, "I called Harrison... I crushed it. I said, 'I need a favor, big dawg. Can you pull up on me?' And he was like 'Yo, give me a minute, let me hit you back.' He hit me back two days later and was like 'I'm on it.' "

However, beyond the jokes, Ford himself admitted during Marvel's Hall H panel at SDCC that he was enthusiastic about joining the MCU, saying he "wanted a piece of the action." Ford's role as President Ross, and his evolution into Red Hulk, makes his character critical for the film and potentially future Avengers projects.
