AceShowbiz - Bethenny Frankel has broken her silence on the breakup with her former fiance, Paul Bernon, and his subsequent relationship with Aurora Culpo. On Sunday's episode of her "Just B With Bethenny Frankel" podcast, the 53-year-old reality star expressed her pain and frustration.
"Last week, I started to see my name in headlines being portrayed as the jilted ex who had been upgraded from, that my ex had moved on from me with a younger woman," Frankel said.
She felt particularly hurt by the implication that she was a "spinster" who had been cast aside for someone younger. She's also uncomfortable by how her ex's new girlfriend publicly detailed their romance.
"It regurgitated the continuous narrative that he is a very under-the-radar person who had now gotten serious with someone, had a girlfriend, met her family, met her kids," she said, "when, ironically, I was the very under-the-radar person."
"This woman is talking about this very publicly, so she's sharing all the details of their brand-new relationship that has been happening for six weeks, right after a six year relationship," the Bravo star went on. "It certainly was shocking and it's embarrassing."
She admitted it was "gutting" and "brutal" to hear "about your ex-fiance committing to another woman shortly thereafter on their first date, and then being inside their relationship, hearing about their sex and their gifts and meeting each other's kids."
"I think by sharing all the details of your new relationship, you're disrespecting the last relationship," Frankel said.
Despite the turmoil, Frankel emphasized that she is "single and independent" and is focusing on healing through therapy. "I am confident. I am happy, and I will survive this," she declared.
Bethenny Frankel's comments come around the same time as Paul Bernon and Aurora Culpo called it quits. Bernon was previously called Aurora's "flavor of the month" by her sister Olivia Culpo.
Bethenny Frankel and Paul Bernon had dated for six years before their split in May 2023. Frankel has emphasized that she initiated the breakup but that it was ultimately mutual, "I wasn't happy. Something needed to change. It was certainly mutual. The relationship had its challenges, and nobody dumped anybody."
She also acknowledged her own issues, "I was scared because of my past and my abandonment issues. I get very scared when there's any sort of change in someone you depend on and someone that you love, but I knew that it was ultimately the right thing."
