AceShowbiz - In the latest episode of "The Kardashians", Kim Kardashian revealed she is assisting Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who recently reached out to her seeking support for prison reform efforts. Kardashian teased that she's set to meet Blanchard.
"I'm meeting her on Wednesday," she announced. Upon expressing their surprise, her family was informed that Blanchard's parole officer must approve the meeting.
Blanchard, who served over eight years in prison, was released in December 2023. In 2015, she was charged with the murder of her mother, Dee Dee, who subjected her to unnecessary medical treatments and portrayed her as having numerous illnesses. Dee Dee's actions were attributed to Munchausen syndrome by proxy, a form of child abuse.
In a confessional, Kardashian shared, "Gypsy Rose Blanchard has expressed interest in prison reform. With her firsthand experience, I believe she has a powerful platform to advocate for important changes."
Kardashian's involvement in prison reform includes her successful campaign for the clemency of Alice Marie Johnson, a grandmother serving a life sentence for a nonviolent offense. As she continues her journey to become a lawyer, Kardashian sees her work with Blanchard as a meaningful extension of her advocacy.
Gypsy, in an interview with E! News, expressed her gratitude for Kardashian's support and described her as "a really sweet woman" who took the time to understand her perspective on prison reform.
Kardashian and Blanchard's meeting is expected to shed light on the challenges and opportunities facing prison reform advocates. As both women share their experiences and insights, they aim to raise awareness and inspire action towards a more just and humane criminal justice system.
