AceShowbiz - Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence are not only comedy legends but also potential in-laws as their children, Eric and Jasmin, have a budding romance. Eddie, in a recent interview with Gayle King, shared his approval of his son Eric's relationship with Martin's daughter, "We were just like, 'It's cool.' " He jokingly added that their "gene pool" is "going to make this funny baby."
"They're both beautiful. They look amazing together," he gushed over the couple. "It's funny, everybody [asks], 'What, is that baby going to be funny?' Like, just our gene pool is going to make this funny baby," he joked. "If they ever get married and have a child, I'm expecting the child to be funny."
Eric and Jasmin went public with their romance in June 2021, with Jasmin posting a sweet birthday message for Eric on Instagram. Since then, they have been open and affectionate on social media, expressing their love for each other.
Eddie is a father of 10, including Eric with former partner Paulette McNeely. Martin has three daughters, Jasmin, Iyanna, and Amara, with ex-wives Patricia Southall and Shamicka Gibbs.
When asked about who would pay for the wedding if Eric and Jasmin tie the knot, Eddie playfully said that the responsibility lies with Martin, as it's customary for the father of the daughter to do so. He joked, "Martin has lots and lots of money, so he should be able to play for a splendid wedding."
Eddie and Martin, who starred together in "Boomerang" and "Life", maintain a close friendship and respect their children's relationship, staying out of their business. However, Martin has expressed his desire for a "comedy super-baby" from the couple.
Despite his initial playful comments, Eddie later revealed that he, not Martin, would be paying for his daughter's wedding.
