AceShowbiz - Emma Roberts shared that she has learned that dating actors is not for her. "One day, the veil was lifted, and I didn't want to date actors anymore," she said. "It's hard, I think, for two actors to be together. I'm trying to think if I've seen it done successfully."
Roberts' past relationships include Evan Peters, her "American Horror Story" co-star with whom she had an on-and-off relationship from 2012 to 2019, and Garrett Hedlund, with whom she shares a 3-year-old son. She is currently in a relationship with Cody John, who is not an actor.
Roberts also explained that her experiences with "Method" actors, who immerse themselves into their roles, made relationships difficult for her. "The actors I've been with border on Method actors, and that is something that I think is extremely difficult to be in a relationship with," she said. "Especially the characters that they were playing."
Roberts, the daughter of Oscar winner Eric Roberts and niece of Julia Roberts, addressed the ongoing conversations about "nepo babies" in Hollywood. She criticized the New York Magazine expose that sparked the discussion, calling it a "cheap shot" and a "viral hating-on-people thing."
According to Roberts, her family connections have hindered more than helped her career. "I've lost more jobs than I’ve gained from being in the business," she said. "People have opinions and sometimes maybe they're not good opinions of people in your family."
Roberts also discussed the pressures of living life in the public eye. "Sometimes when you leave the house, there is a sense of paranoia like, 'Is someone taking my picture? Is someone taking a video of me?' " she said.
Despite the challenges, Roberts expressed gratitude for her career and her son. "I'm loving it. I feel so lucky," she said. "I just got to finish work on a show, I get to go see my 3-year-old tomorrow, and I get to celebrate this tonight, so life is good. I'm very grateful."
