AceShowbiz - Jin, the oldest member of (Bangtan Boys), was recently discharged from his mandatory military service and has been selected as one of the venerated torchbearers for the Olympic event. Big Hit Music, the K-pop group's label, confirmed the news.
The Olympic Torch Relay began in April in Greece and is currently traveling through France, leading up to the opening of this year's Olympic Games on July 26. Over 10,000 torchbearers will participate in the global event, with celebrations being held in various locations across France.
The Olympic Torch Relay, a tradition since the 1936 Berlin Olympics, involves over 10,000 torchbearers and hosts celebrations in more than 400 locations across France and its overseas territories. Jin's involvement symbolizes a message of "harmony" and "peace," aligning with the event's spirit. Although the exact dates of his participation remain undisclosed, his inclusion signifies a powerful representation of his home country and the global K-pop phenomenon.
Following his military service, Jin has expressed plans to release new music and appear on television variety shows. He has also stated that he has been focusing on his health and well-being during his time off. "I'm working on recording music and filming variety shows," Jin shared with Yonhap News Agency. "The results will be out in a few months, so please wait a little longer."
The remaining members of BTS are currently serving their mandatory military duties, and the group is expected to reunite and resume their musical activities in 2025.
