AceShowbiz - Moneybagg Yo has expressed interest in creating a country music project following the success of his collaboration with Morgan Wallen on the track "Whiskey Whiskey". In an interview, Yo revealed that he is considering releasing a country album or EP after completing two upcoming albums before the summer's end.
Yo credits Morgan Wallen for encouraging him to pursue a country music venture. "He was really pressuring me on it," said Yo to Billboard. The success of "Whiskey Whiskey", which debuted at number 21 on the Billboard Hot 100, has further fueled his interest.
Yo has also received support from established country music artists since the release of "Whiskey Whiskey". He claims that they are open to collaborating, and while he welcomes the opportunity, he wants to focus on his own ideas first.
Despite his success in hip-hop and R&B, Yo's experience as a songwriter and understanding of vocal performance have informed his approach to guitar playing. Yo believes this has given him an advantage in playing alongside talented singers.
Yo's father, Bob McNelley, was the frontman for the country-rock band McGuffey Lane, which influenced Yo's appreciation for music and lean expression. Yo's guitar skills have earned him recognition and accolades within the music community. Additionally, the Academy of Country Music has named Yo electric guitar player of the year four times, including most recently in June 2024.
