The former star of 'The Real Housewives of New York' comes clean about the reason behind her decision to cancel her wedding to Scott Litner just four days prior to the ceremony.

AceShowbiz - Kelly Bensimon has broken off her engagement to finance executive Scott Litner, and she has opened up about her decision. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Bensimon shared that the reason for the cancellation was her ex-fiance's refusal to sign a prenuptial agreement.

"He thought that I would enter this union without legal protections in place, that I would leave everything to faith," Bensimon explained. "But I've worked really, really hard as a single mother and have always made smart decisions for myself and my family, and that will continue."

Bensimon, who was previously married to fashion photographer Gilles Bensimon and has two daughters, Sea and Teddy, stated that her former fiance's reluctance to sign the agreement made it impossible for her to continue with the marriage. "It was a rough day for me, but I could never start a life together under those circumstances. I wish him well," she said.

Bensimon's representatives confirmed to multiple outlets that the couple got engaged during a Fourth of July vacation in Wisconsin last year. They were set to marry at Litner's mother's house in Boston, but Bensimon called off the wedding just four days before.

Bensimon, who has since returned to the reality TV world with "The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip", expressed her disappointment over the canceled wedding but emphasized her daughters' well-being as her priority. "I have decided that my two daughters are my priority and I won't be moving forward with this wedding," she stressed.

Scott Litner has not yet publicly commented on the matter.
