AceShowbiz - Kevin Spacey couldn't help but get emotional during a sit-down with Piers Morgan. In an interview airing on Tuesday, June 11, the actor broke down in tears as he lamented being penniless after having to pay millions in legal fees to battle a high-profile sexual assault court case.
On his "Uncensored" show, Morgan asked Spacey where he's living now. In response, the 64-year-old replied, "So the answer to that question is, I'm not quite sure where I'm going to live now, but I have been in Baltimore since we started shooting House of Cards' there."
Morgan later asked why Spacey's house was being foreclosed. To the inquiry, the latter confessed, "Because I can't pay the bills that I owe."
Spacey went on to admit that he owes "many millions." He said, "Well I mean, you have some sense of legal bills... I still owe a lot of legal bills that I have not been able to pay."
The Oscar winner has dodged bankruptcy twice since being cut off by Hollywood after he was accused of sexual misconduct in 2017. Despite various allegations over the years, including claims of misconduct dating back to high school, many charges have been dropped, and the actor has been acquitted in notable cases.
In 2022, a New York jury found that he did not molest actor Anthony Rapp. Also, in 2023, a U.K. court acquitted him of nine charges involving four complainants.
Last month, fellow actors like Liam Neeson and Sharon Stone advocated for Spacey's Hollywood comeback despite new allegations. Stone, Neeson, and other respected figures like Stephen Fry and F. Murray Abraham have called for Spacey's reintegration into the film industry in statements to The Telegraph.
Stone praised Spacey as a "genius" and lamented the blame placed on him by aspiring actors. She described him as "so elegant and fun, generous to a fault and knows more about our craft than most of us ever will." Neeson, meanwhile, expressed his sorrow over the accusations but emphasized Spacey's positive traits, "Kevin is a good man and a man of character. He's sensitive, articulate and non-judgmental, with a terrific sense of humor."
