The cast of 'Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit' reunites on 'The View' to mark the 30th anniversary of the beloved film, reminiscing about their time together and performing iconic songs from the movie.

AceShowbiz - In the latest episode of "The View", Academy Award winner Whoopi Goldberg surprised fans with a special reunion of the original choir from the 1993 film "Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit". Dressed once again as her character Sister Mary Clarence, Goldberg led her former castmates, including Ryan Toby (Ahmal), in a nostalgic rendition of "Oh Happy Day".
The emotional moment brought tears to Goldberg's eyes as she reflected on the lasting legacy of the film. "Worldwide, it doesn't matter how old you are, you are the age of those kids when you see the movie," she said. "You remember how happy you were that you didn't have to go to Catholic school. But then you remember how sorry you are that you didn't get to go to Catholic school and you missed out on teachers like this."
Joining Goldberg on stage were Kathy Najimy, Wendy Makkena, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Monica Calhoun, Alex Martin, David Kater, Frank Odell Howard, Dionna Nichelle, Jermaine Montell, Tanya Trotter, DeeDee Magno Hall, Ashley Thompson and Deondray Gossfield. Each shared their fond memories of working on the film and praised Goldberg for her mentorship.
While Lauryn Hill and Jennifer Love Hewitt were unable to attend the reunion, they sent video messages expressing their love and appreciation for their former castmates. Hewitt recalled Goldberg's kindness and the inspiration she gained from working alongside Hill.
Music supervisors Marc Shaiman and Mervyn Warren joined the cast to discuss the making of the film's memorable musical numbers. Shaiman revealed that a version of "To Sir with Love" was initially planned to close out the film but was later vetoed. Warren also shared a behind-the-scenes secret, admitting that the "La La Las" in "Oh Happy Day" were actually his own vocals, not Goldberg's.
The reunion culminated in a rousing performance of "Joyful, Joyful", featuring students from New York's LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and special guest fans. Goldberg closed the show with a tease about "Sister Act 3", saying that the script is in place and she eagerly awaits the green light to start production.
