AceShowbiz - At the first-ever Gotham TV Awards, "Colin from Accounts," "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" and "Baby Reindeer" emerged as the top winners. Presented by The Gotham Film & Media Institute, the awards recognized creators of TV shows that premiered in the past year.
In the comedy categories, "Colin from Accounts" triumphed, winning Breakthrough Comedy Series and Outstanding Performance in a Comedy Series for co-creator and star Harriet Dyer. The show follows two singles brought together by a car accident.
The drama categories were split. Amazon Prime Video's "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" starring Donald Glover and Maya Erskine, won Breakthrough Drama Series. Netflix's "3 Body Problem" earned Zine Tseng the award for Outstanding Performance in a Drama Series.
The limited series categories were also divided. Netflix's "Baby Reindeer" about a man facing a dangerous stalker won Breakthrough Limited Series. Andrew Scott won Outstanding Performance in a Limited Series for his portrayal of a con artist in Netflix's "Ripley".
In the non-fiction category, "Jerrod Carmichael Reality Show" won Breakthrough Nonfiction Series.
"Baby Reindeer" star and creator Richard Gadd emphasized the show's unexpected popularity and offered words of encouragement to those facing difficulties.
Hosted by Joel Kim Booster and Susie Essman, the ceremony also included tributes to "Law & Order: SVU" star Mariska Hargitay, "The Crown" creator Peter Morgan, and "Expats" creator Lulu Wang.
