AceShowbiz - Brittany Mahomes has weighed in on the foul controversy involving Caitlin Clark. She took to Instagram to show her support to the Indiana Fever rookie guard, who was shoulder-checked by Chicago Sky guard Chennedy Carter during a Saturday June 1 game.
Clark was knocked to the ground after the incident. Initially ruled as an away-from-the-ball foul, the WNBA upgraded the incident to a flagrant-1 violation after review.
Mahomes, a former soccer player and Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model, wrote a message of encouragement to Clark on Instagram Stories. "You're a baller and it's incredible to see what you're doing for the game and women's sports!!" the wife of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes wrote.
Her support came as the WNBA review revealed that Carter avoided a fine or suspension. Clark, who became the all-time scorer in NCAA Division I basketball in March, said she was "not expecting" the foul.
Fever coach Christie Sides praised Clark for her composure in handling the situation, noting that she "got up and kept playing."
Meanwhile, Carter did not comment on the play, while the league fined Sky forward Angel Reese for failing to make herself available to media.
Despite the incident, Clark continues to face physical play in her rookie season. She has stated that she has played with boys since childhood and is accustomed to being "physical and feisty."
