Shortly after releasing her latest single and its accompanying music video, the 'Princess Diana' hitmaker reveals why she 'was so nervous to sample' Sean's 2002 song.

AceShowbiz - Ice Spice has opened up about making of her latest single titled "Gimmie a Light". Shortly after releasing the track and its official music video, the "Princess Diana" hitmaker admitted that working on the song with a Sean Paul sample made her "really nervous."

In a new interview with Zane Lowe that was published via YouTube on Friday, May 10, the 24-year-old hip-hop artist said, "I was really nervous because we really wanted to have a very authentic 'Y2K' sample in there." She was making a reference to her upcoming album.

Ice, whose real name is Isis Naija Gaston, went on to gush, "And Sean Paul, he's legendary. And that song alone, his 'Gimme the Light', is so iconic that I was so nervous to sample it, because I'm like, 'This isn't going to get cleared, so what's the point?' "

The chat prompted rap fans to voice their thoughts on Ice's "Gimmie a Light". In the comments section of the video, one in particular wrote, "There's no way Zane thinks this is good lmao. why is everyone lying." Another bluntly stated, "Why these ppl lie to this girl. She destroyed the sample. Terrible."

In contrast, a third came to Ice's defense, writing, "Ppl complaining that she yells when rapping but that's ALL or MOST DRILL RAPPERS. Her style and Flo isn't bad but that's my opinion I like ice spice a lot." A fourth, in the meantime, suggested, "I luv it but we need more visually for an album called Y2K, Gimmie a light video was good but girl give us something more."

The chat went public less than one day after Ice dropped "Gimmie a Light" and its accompanying music video. The song, which samples Sean's 2002 "Gimme the Light", is expected to be featured in her debut album "Y2K" that is set to be released later this year.
