Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton make use of their official social media accounts to share the birthday girls' new portrait to celebrate their eldest child's big day.

AceShowbiz - Prince William and Kate Middleton treated royal family fans with a new picture of Princess Charlotte in commemoration of her 9th birthday. The Prince and Princess of Wales took to their official social media accounts to share the birthday girls' new portrait.
In the snap, the eldest child of Kate and William could be seen posing for a backyard photo. The teen flashed her biggest smile at the camera while leaning on a flowery hedge. She opted for a navy top that she paired with a maroon cardigan.
Charlotte completed her casual look with a blue denim skirt and stockings that matched her top. She had her long blond locks fall on her shoulders. "Happy 9th Birthday, Princess Charlotte! Thank you for all of the kind messages today."
Westminster Abbey also marked Princess Charlotte's big day on social media. "Wishing Princess Charlotte a very happy 9th birthday!" Westminster Abbey's team captioned the image. "Her Royal Highness is pictured here at the coronation of Their Majesties The King and Queen in the Abbey last year."
The account shared a photo of the young royal at King Charles and Queen Camilla's coronation almost one year ago. She was seen sitting between her parents while looking at something in Princess Kate's lap inside the historic venue.
Kate was in charge of taking Charlotte's new photo. The Duchess of Cambridge previously landed in hot water for digitally altering an image of her and her children shared on the U.K. Mother's Day.
In response to the controversy, the 42-year-old, who is currently battling cancer, admitted to Photoshopping the photo. "Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing," so she explained in a statement. "I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused."
