The 'Gangsta Boo' raptress is set to make her acting debut, starring alongside Denzel Washington, in the English-language reinterpretation of the 1963 Japanese crime thriller of the same title.

AceShowbiz - Ice Spice is venturing into Hollywood. The Bronx femcee, who has made a name for herself in the music industry, is set to make her acting debut and she's starting it out big with a role in Spike Lee's movie.

The "Bikini Bottom" raptress has been tapped to star in "High and Low", a remake of Akira Kurosawa's film of the same title. She is set to appear in a cameo role and has begun shooting for the project, according to Variety which first reported the news.

Ice, whose real name is Isis Naija Gaston, is set to star alongside Denzel Washington in the pic. On Wednesday, April 10, Apple Original Films posted a photo of Washington and Lee to announce the start of production.

"No. 5 now in production," read the caption accompanying the photo as both Washington and Lee showed their five fingers to the camera, signaling their fifth collaboration. They previously made "Mo' Better Blues", "Malcolm X", "He Got Game" and "Inside Man" together.

As for Ice, the movie marks her first acting gig. She made her breakthrough in hip hop with her song "Munch (Feelin' U)", which achieved viral popularity on TikTok, upon its release in late 2022. She went on scoring other charting singles, including "Bikini Bottom", "In Ha Mood", "Gangsta Boo", "Princess Diana" and "Boy's a Liar Pt. 2".

The 24-year-old is also featured on Taylor Swift's song "Karma" (with) and "Barbie World" with Nicki Minaj, the latter of which is from the "Barbie" movie. She released her latest single "Think U the S**t (Fart)" in January to precede the release of her forthcoming debut studio album "Y2K!".

"High and Low" is an English-language remake of Kurosawa's 1963 crime thriller, which itself was loosely based on the 1959 novel "King's Ransom" by Ed McBain (Evan Hunter). The film also stars Ilfenesh Hadera and Jeffrey Wright, and is set to be released on Apple TV+.
