AceShowbiz - Latto (Mulatto) sparked chatters after she treated her fans to a slew of throwback pictures. On Friday, April 5, the "Big Energy" hitmaker shared on Instagram the adorable pictures, one of which featured her parents.
Alongside a snap of her mom, who is white, and her dad, who is black, the "Put It on Da Floor Again" raptress wrote, "The parents." The other image, meanwhile, saw young Latto posing with her sister in cute matching red dresses.
Upon catching wind of her Instagram post, Internet users immediately commented on her background as a mixed. "If you was raised by a white woman you not black," one user wrote in an Instagram comment. Echoing the sentiment, one other added, "White momma = not black."
"Ain't no way a white woman teaching yu how to be a black woman," someone else commented. "Ehhh there is a difference between having a white mom and a black mom. IYKYK!" another comment read, while a user simply said, "Latto is a white women!!"
Despite the hate comments, some fans jumped to Latto's defense. "How a girl sharing a photo of her parents bring out so much hate?" a fan wondered. One person pointed out, "Yal hate mixed people and don't even know why lmao. Really just unhappy & insecure with yourselves."
"This is what's wrong with the black community today. She's a mixed woman and here are comments of black women putting her down for having a white mum? Have a black mum and white dad won't make her any blacker. Please educate yourself!" one other fumed.
Latto herself once clapped back at people trolling her for having a white mom. "This joke so overused [crying laughing emojis] what that gotta do w my mama being white??" the rapper wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, back in 2021. "I can say I want some cereal and mfs be like yOuR WHiTe sIdE iS sHOwInG."
