AceShowbiz - Bravo host Andy Cohen has issued an apology after fueling conspiracy theories about Princess Catherine's whereabouts before she announced her cancer diagnosis.
In April, following Princess Kate Middleton's revelation that she had been diagnosed with cancer and undergoing chemotherapy, Cohen expressed his remorse on his SiriusXM show, "Andy Cohen Live." He admitted that he wished he had "kept his mouth shut" when speculating about the princess's absence from public view.
Cohen's apology stemmed from his previous comments, in which he had questioned whether a video allegedly showing Kate and Prince William at a farm shop near their home in Windsor, England, actually featured the princess. In a tweet, he wrote, "That ain't Kate...."
Cohen's comments joined a wave of online speculation surrounding Kate's whereabouts, which had been exacerbated by the release of a photoshopped image of her with her children. He noted that Sky News had called him a "numpty" for his remarks, and acknowledged that they were right.
In his apology, Cohen also expressed his sympathy for Kate and King Charles, who was diagnosed with cancer in early February. He stated that he had been silent on the issue earlier because his show had been on hiatus, but seized the opportunity to address the matter as soon as he returned to the microphone.
Cohen's apology follows similar statements from other celebrities, including Blake Lively and Kim Kardashian, who have expressed regret for participating in the speculation about Kate's absence.
Kate, 42, revealed her cancer diagnosis in a video message released on March 22. She explained that she had undergone major abdominal surgery in January, but tests afterward revealed the presence of cancer. Her medical team advised her to undergo preventive chemotherapy, which she is currently receiving.
Kate emphasized the importance of privacy and time to process the news, particularly for her children. She said that it had been a challenging time for her family, but expressed gratitude for the support of her medical team.
