The sports channel anchor feels lucky to discover her breast cancer early, crediting her yearly mammograms and encouraging fellow women to have regular test as well.

AceShowbiz - Hannah Storm, a 61-year-old co-anchor of ESPN's SportsCenter, has revealed her recent diagnosis of breast cancer. She shared her journey during a "Good Morning America" interview, highlighting the importance of regular mammograms.

Despite having no risk factors or symptoms, Storm was diagnosed with ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) after a yearly mammogram in November 2023. DCIS is an early-stage breast cancer where cells lining the milk ducts become cancerous but have not spread.

Storm initially received an ultrasound due to her dense breasts, which can make mammogram readings more difficult. After a biopsy, she was shocked by the diagnosis.

"I've had yearly mammograms and there was never anything, I have no family history," Storm recalled. "I had no pain. I had no lumps. I literally had nothing that would've indicated that I had breast cancer."

Despite the early diagnosis, Storm underwent a lumpectomy, a procedure to remove the cancer. She also takes Tamoxifen to prevent future cancer development.

Due to new tests, Storm did not need radiation. She has since returned to work at ESPN, emphasizing the benefits of mammograms. "This is how you find it. You find it through getting your yearly mammograms," Storm stressed. "If you find out that you have it in the earliest form, it's so treatable."

Storm's diagnosis follows a similar revelation by actress Olivia Munn, who privately battled breast cancer in 2023 and underwent a double mastectomy.

Storm urges women to prioritize their health by getting annual mammograms to detect breast cancer early. "Be afraid not to. Be afraid of what you don't know," she advised. "The more people who talk about breast cancer, the better. So I will beat that drum forever."
