AceShowbiz - Brad Pitt had an "awkward" run-in with Angelina Jolie's family amid the exes' contentious custody battle. The 60-year-old actor reportedly did not speak to Angelina's dad Jon Voight and brother James Haven when he accidentally ran straight into his former in-laws.

On Friday, January 12, the "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" star attended a small gallery exhibition by his "Moneyball" director Bennett Miller in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. In one of pictures obtained by The U.S. Sun from inside the show at the Gagosian Gallery, he was seen laughing and joking with a pal as he stood just a few feet away from Jon and James.

"Plenty of people noticed how awkward it was that Brad was in the same room as Ange's family, and it's not a big space," an eyewitness from the event told the outlet. "I'm told James was amicable and acknowledged Brad, but I didn't see them talking, they were mostly stood apart for the duration of the event speaking with friends."

It's believed that Brad was unaware his ex-wife's father and brother would be in attendance at the popular opening. "Britney Spears' ex Sam Asghari was also there and went up and asked for a selfie with Brad, mentioning how much the singer loved him," the source added.

Sam even took to his Instagram page to share his picture with the two-time Oscar winner. "At the #bennettmiller @gagosian with some cool people last night. Also got alot of skin care tips from Brad Pitt," he captioned the post.

While it was not documented in his other photos from the art exhibition, Sam reportedly also had a conversation with Jon and James. The source revealed, "He then switched sides and went over and was seen chatting to James and Jon for a while."

Angelina is known for her rocky relationship with her father over the years. Following his daughter's split from Brad, the 85-year-old actor said, "He [Brad] has had some difficulties with alcohol and I hope that he takes care of things and I pray for the guy. The kids are coping as best they can."

He recently also clashed with Angelina over her stance on the Israel-Palestine conflict. After his daughter expressed support for Palestine, her father said he's disappointed with the 48-year-old humanitarian for "having no understanding of God's honor, God's truths."

On the other hand, James has been protective of his sister and her children. Recently, he said he changed his life after Angelina's split from Brad so he could help "protect" her children. He told "90who10" podcast co-host Jessica Entner, "That's where it all started, it started with the protection of her and her children - my nieces and nephews. I set my life up so I can be present with whatever the situation. I want to be there for them or for her - whatever she's going through."
