AceShowbiz - Daddy Yankee has received positive feedback after giving up his career as a reggaeton artist to serve God. The Puerto Rican singer/songwriter announced his retirement at the end of his farewell tour "La Meta (The Goal)" in Puerto Rico on Monday, December 5.
Making use of his Instagram page to mark a new "chapter" in his life, he posted a video of his speech from the last show. "This day for me, is the most important day in my life.. tonight I recognize and am not ashamed to tell the whole world that Christ lives in me and that I will live for him," he penned in the caption. "This is the end of one chapter and the beginning of a brand new one."
In the clip, the 46-year-old explained his decision to fully devote his life to his Christian faith. "For many years I've tried filling a hole in my life that no one could fill. I tried finding a purpose, on many occasions, it seemed as if I was happy, but something was missing for me to feel complete," he said to the audience.
He then recited a bible verse in Spanish, which translated into, "What good will it be for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?" He continued, "A chapter has ended but a new one will begin," adding he would be going by his birth name Ramon Ayala moving forward.
The post was quickly flooded with supportive messages from his followers. One person wrote in the comments section, "Congratulations. May God bless you. I also hope to be touched that way by God. Although I always keep him in my heart wherever I go.. but i haven't been touched that way yet. That's a blessing."
Another exclaimed, "Amen amen amen! Now I admire and respect you a million times over." A third penned, "May God direct your journey in this new beginning!! This is what I call courage and heart!! Welcome." Someone else gushed, "There is a shift taking place. God is preparing his territory, He's coming back soon! Thank you for using your platform!"
