As a colossal monster threatens the existence of humanity, an unlikely alliance between Kong and Godzilla, which is awakened from its long hibernation, is formed.

AceShowbiz - Warner Bros. Pictures has unleashed the first official trailer for "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire", teasing an epic team-up between the two titans. A sequel to 2021's "Godzilla vs. Kong", the trailer sees the two monsters forming an unlikely alliance to fight a new colossal and sinister monster hidden in a newly-discovered world.

The video opens with the ground rumbling and a seismometer shaking wildly as a woman says in voiceover, "For most of human civilization, we believed that life could only exist on the surface of our planet. What else were we wrong about?"

A large hand wearing yellow armor emerges from the desert and viewers are shown a glimpse of King Kong approaching "mini Kong." Meanwhile, a team of explorers goes to an uncharted island that leads them to the hidden world.

Hidden beneath the Earth, the new empire is ruled by a more sinister creature that wreaks havoc on the surface on Earth. As the new threat puts the existence of humanity at risk, Godzilla is awakened from its long hiatus to team up with Kong and fight their common enemy.

According to the newly-updated synopsis, "The epic battle continues! Legendary Pictures' cinematic Monsterverse follows up the explosive showdown of 'Godzilla vs. Kong' with an all-new adventure that pits the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence-and our own. 'Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire' delves further into the histories of these Titans and their origins, as well as the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever."

Adam Wingard is back at the helm of the monster movie. Rebecca Hall, Brian Tyree Henry and Kayle Hottle reprise their roles as Dr. Illene Andrews, Bernie Hayes and Jia, respectively from the 2021 movie. The upcoming film also stars franchise newcomers Dan Stevens, who was cast as the new lead, Fala Chen and Alex Ferns.

"Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire" was originally scheduled to be released on March 15, 2024, before it's pushed back to April 12, 2024.
