In the divorce papers filed way back in January, the 'Dark Fantasy' singer accuses her estranged husband of 'extreme narcissistic behavior' and being jealous about her fame.

AceShowbiz - Teyana Taylor is quietly divorcing Iman Shumpert. It has just been revealed that the singer/actress filed for divorce from her husband months before she confirmed her separation from the NBA star in September.
Per TMZ's report, the 32-year-old multi-talented star filed the divorce papers in Georgia back in January, more than eight months before their split announcement. In the docs, she details the reason behind their separation, accusing the professional basketball player of "extreme narcissistic behavior" and being jealous about her fame.
Teyana says Iman would feel insecure about being good enough for her, despite the fact that he was earning way more playing basketball than she could ever dream of making in music. She notes that when Iman signed a $40 million contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2015 and was paid $8 million by the New York Knicks, he remained aggravated by her notoriety and jealous of her acting career.
The dancer claims Iman would grow annoyed when they attended public events together and photographers asked for him to step out of frame. He then allegedly started sending her negative text messages with condescending and manipulative language in response to her being in the spotlight. She claims he would pick fights with her for no reason, even on her birthday, and then apologize.
Teyana says that she "began to intentionally dim her light for her husband to try to have a harmonious and peaceful marriage" as Iman "became more and more angry" about her stardom. She even had to turn down recording opportunities and acting gigs because Iman "did not want her to work."
However, when Teyana stopped working after giving birth to one of their kids, Iman allegedly complained about her not making money. She says she fought to keep their family together despite Iman "being extremely emotionally and mentally abusive towards her."
Teyana says she used her connections to get Iman gigs in Hollywood as his NBA career wound down, but he "unfortunately insisted on bickering." She reveals that she first began a divorce process in 2021, but they then reconciled. Their reconciliation, however, was short-lived because Iman "remained in an insecure state as his NBA career continued to wind down."
In 2022, Teyana once again filed for divorce from Iman as she felt being manipulated and controlled by her husband, but she asked her legal team to withdraw the filing one day later. Her final straw eventually came in January of this year, because she was "unable to handle the emotional rollercoaster."
In the docs, Teyana accuses her estranged husband of multiple cheating scandals. She also alleges that the 33-year-old athlete once crashed her Rolls Royce and fled the scene to avoid a second DUI arrest.
Teyana says her attempts to stay with him were only met with "further cruel treatment and selfishness." After she filed for divorce, she says Iman insisted on them getting back together, but he was involved in another cheating scandal, which she says was embarrassing and humiliating. She claims that he has been "treating her cruelly and displaying extreme narcissistic behavior throughout the majority of their marriage."
In the docs, Teyana says their marriage is "irretrievably broken." She says she hasn't spent significant time with their two children since she left their family home in October. She is asking for temporary and permanent primary physical custody, plus joint legal custody and child support.
Sources say despite her bombshell allegations, Teyana wanted to keep the divorce private as long as possible by filing the divorce with their initials. However, Iman's recent filing included their full names, exposing their divorce process.
Back in September, Teyana insisted that "infidelity" wasn't the reason of their split. "AHT AHT! Not too much on my bestie! In all fairness, Iman and I are separated and have been for a while. To be 1000% clear, 'infidelity' ain't one of the reasons for our departure," she wrote on Instagram.
She went on to note that she and Iman "are still the best of friends, great business partners and are one hell of a team when it comes to co-parenting our 2 beautiful children." She added, "Most importantly we are FAMILY & in the 10yrs together, 7yrs married we ain't ever played with or about THAT."
