AceShowbiz - Grace Helbig has got candid about her health issue with her fans. The YouTube star unleashed a new video in which she revealed that she has been diagnosed with breast cancer.
When detailing the "shocking" and "surreal" moment she got the diagnosis, the Internet personality said she had stage 2A triple-positive breast cancer. "It doesn't sound real, but it's real," she said, adding that she has had enough time to process the information and is beginning the process of chemotherapy.
The 37-year-old claimed she discovered her diagnosis "a month ago." She explained, "I've had a decent amount of time to process and start the process, so I'm finally ready to share with you."
Luckily, Grace was told by medical professionals that the cancer was "super treatable" and "highly beatable." She then noted, "We're going for cure, not remission here, which is exciting, encouraging, helpful, good."
Now that she has received her diagnosis, Grace will be undergoing six rounds of chemotherapy, surgery, and hormonal therapy. She later thanked her friends and family for their support.
Grace went on to recall the moment she decided to have a check-up with her gynecologist after noticing a "weird lump" in her left breast. "I really had to like talk myself into bringing it up to her in the appointment because I thought that I was just a stupid little girl that didn't know how girl bodies worked, and it's probably just muscle tissue," she elaborated.
"Thank God I listened to that little voice inside of me that finally got the courage to bring it up to her," the comedienne further shared. "Because she also thought it was abnormal."
Before concluding the video, Grace shared a message to her online devotees, "You cannot plan for the future, you have to take it one step at a time. And this was the next step for me." She also thanked her husband, Elliot Morgan, for standing by her side by saying, "I am so incredibly thankful to have an amazing husband [Elliott Morgan] and... you're really confronted with having to put yourself first."
