The '7 Rings' hitmaker and her real estate agent husband's marriage 'has definitely taken a back seat' after she lands an iconic role of good witch Glinda in upcoming movie 'Wicked'.

AceShowbiz - Ariana Grande's busy career apparently puts distance in her relationship with husband Dalton Gomez. The "7 Rings" hitmaker and the real estate agent's marriage is strained because of her hectic schedule after landing a role in "Wicked".

"The movie has completely taken over her life," a source said to Radar Online of the film adaptation of the 2003 musical which will see Ariana as Glinda. The source added, "Ariana has been in Australia and England for almost a year, and she still has months left to go. Her marriage has definitely taken a back seat, and it's been a huge strain."

It was said that the couple, who got married in a super secret at-home ceremony in May 2021, hardly enjoyed the newlywed life even before Ariana was cast in the flick. Even when Dalton visits the 29-year-old musician, they allegedly barely get to spend time together.

The source added that Ariana goes all in for her role. "She tries not to speak unless she is filming to preserve her voice, so they hardly talk to each other, either," added the source. While it's good, her commitment to the project puts her connection with her husband to the test.

"While Dalton is used to her career being a priority, his patience has worn thin," the insider noted. "He just wants his partner back."

Ariana's decision to go great lengths for the movie is understandable considering that she's taking on an iconic role. Kristin Chenoweth, who received a nomination for a Tony Award for her role of the good witch in the smash hit musical, shared that the pop star was "really scared" at the idea of taking on the role in the upcoming two-part movie adaptation.

"She didn't call me for advice but she was really nervous. She said she wanted to pay homage to me but said 'I'm really scared, I wanna make you proud.' Well, she's already made me proud. Done. Check," she said on "The Kelly Clarkson Show".

The former "Pushing Daisies" actress, who has known Ariana since she met her backstage at "Wicked" as a young fan almost 20 years ago, urged the "Thank U, Next" hitmaker to make the role her own. "I said 'What I want to encourage you do, Ariana, is make Glinda your Glinda. I want you to do you.' I've known her since I was 10, and now I see the full circle. She called me [crying] like 'I got it!' I went 'Oh my God, what?!' We sounded like dogs! But I'm so proud of her," she shared.
