Making use of his podcast 'Life Is Short With Justin Long', the 'Live Free or Die Hard' actor reveals that he and his actress fiancee spoke to a therapist before he popped the question.

AceShowbiz - Kate Bosworth and Justin Long have finally confirmed their engagement. After weeks of speculations, the "Superman Returns" actress and the "Live Free or Die Hard" actor came out with the happy announcement as they shared details of his "organic" proposal through his podcast "Life Is Short With Justin Long".

Dishing on the proposal, Justin spilled in the Tuesday, April 4 episode of his podcast, "It was a moment where it just felt so organic and it felt connected to something very, very deeply, profoundly personal that we were going through, like, a real life change, and so it came out in a very organic way."

The 44-year-old actor further revealed that he and his actress fiancee actually went through a hard time before he popped the question. "We had just gone through this really hard thing and we had spoken to a therapist and we were trying to move through things at the time," he confessed.

Spilling more on the effectiveness of the therapy, Justin went on to recall that their therapist "gave us a really great piece of advice which was: Make sure that you're pretty consistently asking the other what you need, or asking the other what they need."

On Justin's proposal itself, Kate recalled, "I remember waking up not so many mornings after that therapy session and I looked at Justin and I said…I remember, I smiled at you, and I said, 'What do you need?' And he, like, really looked at me and he said, 'To spend my life with you.' And I smiled and I said, 'Well, yeah, you have that. Oh my gosh, you have that.' "

Kate continued by recounting Justin's response. She revealed, "He said, 'No, I mean I really want to spend my life with you.' " Her fiance then shared what went through his mind at the time. "It was the easiest…the words just came out, like, so naturally," he confessed. As for Kate, she thought that his proposal "was the most romantic and honest and loving proposal."

On the airing day of the podcast's episode, Kate made use of Instagram to further spread the words. "These things are funny to announce," she wrote in her post. "How to do this right? He's going the distance? I've got a Blue Crush? He's just THAT into me? I've won a date with…??? Ok you get it!"

"We thought it might be nice to share our joy in a conversation you all can listen to, on my future husband's @lifeisshortpodcast. So if you would like to be in the room with us (sort of!) & hear our story, the link is in my bio," the 40-year-old actress went on. "If life is short, find the one who brings you endless peace and radical wonder. @justinlong I am so grateful it's you."

In accompaniment of the long caption, Kate shared a series of pictures that captured the moments she spent together with Justin.

Kate and Justin's engagement announcement came just days after it was reported that the actress could not wait to marry her beau. "Kate is just the happiest. Justin is an amazing guy. She can't wait to marry him," a source spilled to PEOPLE. The pair themselves sparked engagement rumors back in March when she was spotted wearing a ring on her finger when they attended the 2023 Vanity Fair Oscar Party in Beverly Hills.
